A vision to illuminate Patan Darbar Square for night-time activation
Based on Atelier Rang, a German architect’s idea, KVPT experimented with locally available light fixtures to illuminate monuments recently rebuilt and restored by KVPT—Char Narayana, Harishankara, Bhimsen, Krishna, and Visvesvara temples along with the Yognarendra Statue. While the results were visually compelling in the shorter term, locally available light fixtures proved inadequate in terms of durability.
The future phase of this project now entails a larger vision to illuminate surrounding residential buildings, the Palace wings, and the Bhandarkhal tank and archaeological garden with higher quality lighting fixtures.
